Sun-loving skinks and cute geckos are welcomed at the Lajedo dos Beija-Flores hummingbird sanctuary, as these small lizards eat pesky bugs like houseflies and mosquitoes.

 The other members of the reptile family – snakes – are rare in this region, with only a few species. However, they are not unknown, and with a little patience and luck, visitors may be able to get some great shots of these shy residents.
